Over the next few months, you will be receiving regular communications from both the Office of Global Programs and the Office of Global Services (OGS):
The Office of Global Programs is the office that reviewed your study away application, admitted you to the program, and will continue to answer all questions about your study away site, housing, course registration, orientation, etc.
The Office of Global Services (OGS) works with all admitted students to help you understand the visa and immigration requirements for your semester abroad. You should expect their first email communication the first week in October.
While it’s very important that you read emails from both of our offices, emails from the Office of Global Services will contain information that is crucial for legally entering a foreign country, such as how to obtain a student visa, if required. It is very important that you pay attention to these emails — if you do not follow immigration procedures and/or obtain the correct visa, you will not be able to study away.
Please note that not all students or sites require a student visa — however, there is almost always an immigration process that must be followed prior to arrival. In order to do so, make sure you have a valid passport, or that you’ve started the process for applying/renewing one.
